The intensity at which the number of coronavirus cases are growing worldwide, it has become necessary to take precautionary measures to reduce the risk of infection. This is why we need a healthy and strong immune system. Our immune system is the first line of defence, which plays a vital role in keeping the disease-causing pathogens away from us, thereby reducing the chances of getting sick.

There are different ways of boosting your immune health and one of the major ones is Ayurveda. Several herbs have been used for ages to prepare Ayurvedic medicine which can help to boost your immune health.

“As the virus affects our throat and chest, we must boost our bronchial health or the Kapha dosh to reduce the risk of infection.” Here are some herbs that you can try to boost your immunity.

Immunity Booster 1


Ingredients: 5 grams of neem leaves

How to have it: Take 5 grams of neem leaves and grind it to make a fine paste using mortar and pestle. Put it at the back of your throat and swallow it. Have it on an empty stomach and do not eat or drink anything for 1 hour.

Benefits: Neem is anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and is a strong spermicidal agent. Do not take neem for more than 15 days. Besides, pregnant women, children and senior citizen should avoid neem.

Immunity Booster 2

Ingredients: 5 grams of Phyllanthus Niruri also known as a stone breaker.

How to have it: Take 5 grams of Phyllanthus Niruri leaves and grind it to make a fine paste using mortar and pestle. Swallow it on an empty stomach in the morning.

Benefits: Phyllanthus Niruri leaves helps to dissolve kidney and gall bladder stone. It strengthens your liver, boosts immunity and helps fighting Hepatitis B. You can also take Phyllanthus Niruri in a capsule form.

Immunity Booster 3

Ingredients: 1/2 inch freshly peeled ginger

How to have it: Have 1/2 inch of freshly peeled ginger before your meal.

Benefits: Ginger has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The herb stimulates your metabolism and helps to boost your immunity.

Immunity Booster 4

Ingredients: 1 Amala or gooseberry

How to have it: Have one amala every day on an empty stomach

Benefits: Amla or Indian gooseberry is loaded with the benefits of Vitamin C, beta-carotene and is a rich source of antioxidants, which helps to boost the immunity. 1 amla is equal to 20 citric fruit.

Ingredients: Giloy and Brahmi

How to have it: You can have Giloy and Brahmi juice, which are readily available in the market. You can also take them in capsule form.
