Gurugram-Faridabad proposed metro project revived! Check route

A 31-Km metro line is proposed from Bata Chowk in Faridabad which will connect to Delhi Metro Yellow Line at Huda City Centre. The cost of the project is pegged at Rs 5,900 crore.

The Haryana government is planning to revive the proposed Gurugram-Faridabad metro project. In a recent meeting at Chandigarh, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar directed officials to begin the work on the proposed line.

This is the fifth such proposed metro line in Gurugram. Metro route between both the cities has been part of the discussions of quite some time now. However, the project was delayed.

According to a News Agency report, the project came to light last month in a meeting during the review of Haryana’s metro projects in the NCR. The sources cited in the report said that a 31-Km metro line is proposed from Bata Chowk in Faridabad which will connect to Delhi Metro Yellow Line at Huda City Centre. The cost of the project is pegged at Rs 5,900 crore.

A senior GDMA official was quoted by the national daily saying, “As of now, discussions are underway to either merge the metro link the DMRC Yellow Line at Sikanderpur metro station or with the Rapid Metro line at the Sector 55.56 Rapid Metro station.” Initially, the plan was to link Bata Chowk with Huda City Centre via Gurugram Sector 54, Sushant Lok and Sector 45, the report added.

Worth mentioning here is that at the fourth meeting of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority recently, the Haryana government also approved construction of 31-long metro corridor from Huda City centre to Gurugram cyber city. The corridor will begin where Delhi metro’s Yellow line ends. This extended corridor will reach inner parts of Gurugram. The detailed project report (DPR) was approved and will be sent to the Union government for approval.

This project is estimated to cost around Rs 6,000 crore. Once the project is approved by the union government, the work is expected to begin in summer next year. Haryana government is also considering a link between the Delhi Metro Blue Line and Gurugram metro.
