An Army Spokesman Of the Sri Lankan Army Sumith Atapattu stared that Sri Lankan authorities had not been informed regarding an arrest warrant issued against Brigadier Priyanka Fernando by a UK court.

“If a warrant has been issued then the relevant authoritites must follow the due proceedure in order to inform us formally” he told Times Online.

He made these remarks with reference to a news report which claimed that an arrest warrant has been issued against Brig. Fernando by the Westminster Magistrate’s Court for violating the Public Order Act.

“We are not concerned over such media reports. If we receive an official notification then we shall act accordingly” Mr. Atapattu added.

The news report added that Brig. Fernando has been found guilty of sections 5 and 4A of the Public Order Act, with the court stating that his actions were threatening, caused harassment, and that he intended them to be so. The warrant was issued following a case against the ‘threatening actions’ of Brig. Fernando against a group of LTTE supporters who staged a protest outside the premises of the Sri Lankan High Commission in UK on February 04 last year.

Britain earlier had permitted similar support to Khalistan Supporters too. It seems the Country is not ready to learn and bent upon compounding its mistakes. Recently Canada is ruing it’s decision of carrying out orders of USA and arresting Huawei executive.

In the similar manner, UK will regret any action taken against anyone from the Sri Lankan Embassy. It better rein in its Courts or it may find itself being expelled from the Commonwealth itself.
