Akhilesh Yadav To Campaign In Gujarat Against BJP?

Former Uttar Pradesh CM and national president of Samajwadi PartyAkhilesh Yadav has said that he will campaign in the Gujarat elections if the Congress party shows more dostana (friendship). “As of now, our party is fighting elections on five seats in Gujarat. But if Congress shows some more dostana and extends some more seats to us, we will be more than ready to support them in the form of an alliance and I will also campaign in the state.

Notably, in February last year, the SP had shocked both the Congress and BJP when it scripted an electoral history in the state and won 23 out of 24 seats in Kathlal municipality in Kheda district.

Yadav, who was in Meerut to attend a private function, took a dig at PM Narendra Modi’s development pitch in polls, saying, “The roads constructed by the Samajwadi Party are being used as runways for fighter planes. This is the quality of work we did when we were in power. Even PM Modi cannot deliver such high level of quality because he has no time and CM Yogi does not want to do it. He had promised pothole-free roads, but this government ended up filling those holes with cow-dung.”

Yadav was referring to the Indian Air Force’s first-of-its-kind drill on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, which the former CM had built, on October 24 when 20 fighter jets, including the AN-32, Mirage 2000 and Sukhoi 30 MKI, will land on the highway and and take off from there.

Criticising the BJP leaders for their controversial statements on the Taj Mahal, Yadav said, “The controversy has been deliberately generated to divert people’s attention from real problems that the population of UP is facing. On one hand, PM Modi promotes tourism and says that tourism generates $3 trillion all over the world. But on the other hand, his party degrades the same monument that attracts tourists from all over the world and generates a huge amount of revenue for the nation. How these two things can go side by side, I do not understand.”

The former CM also asked the party cadre to start working early in order to ensure that SP candidates win most mayoral seats in the forthcoming municipal elections.

“Let the message be put across by grabbing the seats of mayor this time. I want you to work tirelessly to ensure our candidates win the mayor elections and we will fight on party symbols here as well,” he said.
