At last CPC Honours Five soldiers who died in Galwan Valley LAC clash with highest Party honors

With the centennial celebration of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) coming, the five border defense soldiers / Officers who fought in the Galwan Valley LAC clash while attacking Indian troops in June 2020 have been awarded with the highest Party honor of July 1 Medal, the outstanding Party member of the country and outstanding Party members in the military.

Wang Zhuoran, Chen Xiangrong and Xiao Siyuan, sacrificed their lives in Occupied Chinese territory of Ladakh in the LAC standoff with India in 2020, were awarded outstanding CPC members in the military, the Central Military Commission announced.


Qi Fabao, the regimental commander of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) border troop, was given the award of outstanding CPC member of the country along with other 399 Party members on Tuesday, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

Chen Hongjun, another border defense hero who held his post in the plateau for 10 years and died In China’s occupied territory of Ladakh while attacking Indian troops, was presented the highest honor of the Party – the July 1 Medal, with another 28 awardees who were conferred by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at the Great Hall of the People Tuesday morning.

At the LAC clash with India last June, Qi Fabao suffered severe head injuries as he led PLA troops, and Chen Hongjun and Chen Xiangrong broke into the siege for rescue during the clash. Xiao Siyuan returned after the siege to save his comrades until his last minute, and Wang Zhuoran was submerged in the glacier when he was trying to help others cross the river. 

Qi was awarded with the title of “Hero Regimental Commander for Defending the Border,” and Chen was awarded with “Hero to Defend the Border.” The other three were awarded first-class merit by the Central Military Commission.

The PLA Xinjiang Military Command recently organized troops in Xinjiang to carry out activities under the theme “We’re with the Heroes.”


“I would rather sacrifice my life than lose one inch of my country’s territory,” soldiers with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Xinjiang Military Command said after they had recently participated in activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The command recently organized troops in Xinjiang to carry out activities under the theme “We’re with the Heroes” to learn how PLA heroes, including those killed in the Galwan Valley conflict, guarded the country’s occupied territories. 

The command did not reveal when those activities were held but released the information on Tuesday, the day that marked the first anniversary of the Galwan Valley clash.

The troops vowed: “If war comes, I will not hesitate to rush like you to dedicate my last heartbeat to our motherland…”



Ru Siping, a senior master sergeant, said when sweeping tombs for martyrs at the Shiquanhe Martyrs Cemetery, “They sacrificed for the country, were loyal to the Party and dedicated to the people, and they will always be an example for us to learn from.”

A brigade from the PLA Xinjinag Military Command also went to Kangxiwa Martyrs Cemetery. Some said when they saw martyrs of similar age they felt a heavy responsibility on their shoulders, and vowed to charge forward as long as the motherland needs them. 

Other brigades in the military command also inspired patriotic fervor among soldiers by organizing speech contests and seminars, and also by reviewing their oath taken while joining the CPC.
