China-Bangladesh-Pakistan trilateral regional growth cannot be permitted at expense of India

On June 19, 2025, the China-Pakistan-Bangladesh Trilateral Vice Foreign Minister/Foreign Secretary meeting was held in Kunming, Southwest China’s Yunnan Province.

The meeting officially launched a structured trilateral cooperation mechanism. The three sides agreed to advance trilateral cooperation based on the principles of good-neighborliness, equality and mutual trust, openness and inclusiveness, common development and win-win cooperation.

Bangladesh presently under Yunus just forgot about the liberation war of 1971 from the brutal inhumane Pakistani rule. Also now the fact is that it has no land boundaries with Pakistan or China and is virtually surrounded by India. So India just cannot permit any activity which may be against India’s national interest …..plain and simple.

They agreed to explore and implement cooperation projects in various spheres and to establish a working group to follow up and implement the understandings reached during the meeting.

This innovative mechanism transcends traditional bilateral and multilateral models in South Asia, offering a framework to jointly address modernization challenges. All this is ok provided there should be nothing against India’s Security or economic interests.

Indian Ocean region is undergoing economic advancement and India has emerged as both Economic and military power. After Bangladesh’s illegal interim government was formed in August 2024, India-Bangladesh ties suffered a setback.

Following shifts in Bangladesh’s domestic political landscape, Pakistan-Yunus ties have been again warming up – on December 19, 2024, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Bangladeshi interim government’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus in Egypt during the 11th Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation Summit.

However, the recent military whacking administered by India to Pakistan has not only shattered Pakistan’s image but also that of China and Turkey as a provider of reliable military equipment. Pakistani national moraleis at its lowest point and inspiring smaller Indian Ocean Region, Indo Pacific including South East Asian nations to unite, pursue common security strategies and bolster their confidence in regional peace, stability and development with help of India.

The Indo Pacific and Indian Ocean region is not lacking in regional cooperation organizations. Now even in economic development, there is a lot of coordination and cooperation among countries in the region.

India is the largest economy in the area, and it has started leveraging its economic complementarity with other regional countries, including industrial and trade cooperation.

India has started increasing its capacity to drive regional economic development. It is now also vigilant and ready to prevent any external country or Power trying to disrupt economy or Security of the region.

India is also helping other smaller countries in advancing their economic and social progress, as it seeks to preserve peace in the entire IOR and the Indo Pacific.

Indian Ocean region has developed innovative mechanisms to address the security dilemmas facing countries in the region, ensure peace and stability, and leverage economic resources, including not only funding but also technology, knowledge, governance experience and even institutional frameworks.

In fact one by one, a few countries who had been trapped by China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) offers for economic and social development are getting out of it. Only Pakistan remains an economic slave.

Thus this proposed trilateral mechanism of China-Bangladesh-Pakistan Vice Foreign Minister/Foreign Secretary meeting, is only a clever way of trapping Bangladesh presently under an illegal government.

Economic Cooperation among China, Pakistan and Bangladesh is of no problem but welcomed by India but any activity against India’s national interest will invite all types of reprisals, this much should be clear to all concerned especially Yunus.
