China Indirectly Threatens Intervention In Pakistan

Pakistani investigators gather evidence at the site of an explosion in Karachi, Pakistan, on April 26, 2022

Pakistani media reported a suicide bombing in Karachi on Tuesday. In the country’s largest city, three Chinese citizens and a Pakistani were killed in the bombing.

After the explosion, the Balochistan Liberation Army, a Baluch Freedom Fighting organization, claimed responsibility for the attack and released a photo of a woman, claiming that she was the first female suicide bomber of the group.

The Chinese embassy and consulate in Pakistan strongly condemned this act as terrorism and asked Pakistan to make every effort to treat the wounded, conduct a thorough investigation of the attack and severely punish the perpetrators. It also asked all levels of relevant Pakistani department to take practical measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions and projects in Pakistan, and ensure that similar incidents do not happen again.

This is the same China that always displayed its indifference to such explosion by Pakistan sponsored terrorists in Kashmir all these years. The top International terrorist Asher Masood was always being defended by China in all the International forums till now.

Now a shaken China is asking this attack initiated by a single organization or was it supported and manipulated by larger forces. They are demanding that the Pakistani side must conduct a comprehensive and detailed investigation and give the Chinese an explanation.

The freedom fighting group Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which claimed responsibility for this incident, has repeatedly threatened to launch attacks on Chinese companies and citizens located in occupied Balochistan. The BLA fighters attacked the Chinese consulate in Karachi in 2018 and staged a suicide attack near the Gwadar Port in August 2021, injuring a Chinese national. It can be said that several serious Such attacks against Chinese citizens are linked to this group.

Pakistan has tried the protection of Chinese nationals in recent years but without addressing the root causes of the problem, there will always be loopholes. This time, the attack targeted the Confucius Institute. “Hard targets” like projects or construction sites that are tightly protected are thought to be difficult to attack. For that reason, the Baluch fighters sought “soft targets” such as schoolteachers.

It is worth noting that Kalat or Baluchistan like India and Pakistan had become the third free country when the British left the Indian subcontinent. However it was forcibly occupied by Pakistan Army a few years later. Since then Baluchis have been trying to fight for their independence. Presently they have started targeting the Chinese because under the CPEC project, China has undertaken massive exploitation of all resources of Baluchistan and virtually depriving the locals of even the freedom of movement in their own towns and cities.

It is worth noting that the Pakistani government unable to control the Chinese exploitation has publicly said many times that the violent forces and separatist movements have been infiltrated by international third-party forces. Now China has warned that either in or out of Pakistan, forces targeting Chinese nationals in attacks will be stricken the hardest. …..So the Chinese are they hinting at involvement of Afghan Talibans or Iran or even India ? So they mean to threaten India or what ? Chinese have themselves violated Indian Sovereignty by construction projects in Indian territory illegally occupied by Pakistan.

Pakistani Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has also strongly condemned Tuesday’s attacks calling it a “cowardly act of terrorism” and said that a thorough investigation will be conducted to bring the perpetrators to justice. He also went to the Chinese embassy in Pakistan to express his condolences for the assault on the Chinese nationals and to placate an angry China

Now Chinese are strongly demanding that the Pakistani side make more efforts to protect the safety of Chinese institutions, projects and personnel in Pakistan, and make those organizations understand that those who try to hurt the Chinese will only bring destruction on themselves. How Pakistan is going to do this is yet to be seen.
