Chinese businessman kidnapped in Colombo by Chinese triad, robbed of USD 60,000

The Kollupitiya Police launched an investigation after a group of Chinese nationals in Sri Lanka had kidnapped a Chinese businessman in Colombo and robbed him of approximately USD 60,000 (about Rs. 180 million) through the USDT crytptocurrency system, police said.
They said the victim operates a shop named Hua Hui on R.A. De Mel Mawatha, Kollupitiya.
According to Police, he was abducted in a car around 9.00 p.m. on Friday (August 22).
He has told police that he was confined in a building for about a day, during which the suspects had stolen the money before abandoning him on a roadside on Saturday.
The businessman is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Narahenpita. The investigation was launched after a complaint was lodged last evening.
It seems Chinese mafia has entrenched itself even in Sri Lanka or is it the Communist Party collecting an indirect tax?
