Fresh clashes reported on Pakistani-Afghan Durand Line

It was a respond to an attack on Pakistani roadblocks in the Kurram of the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, PTV reported

The Pakistani army shelled positions in Afghanistan, claiming to be responding to an attack on Pakistani roadblocks in the Kurram of the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the state-run PTV television reported citing the Paki armed forces.

According to the Pakistani report, Afghanistan forces and militia from the Fitna-e-Khawarij opened “unprovoked “ fire on Pakistani border checkpoints on Tuesday evening. The Pakistani military responded with fire, destroying one roadblock and a tank firing position.

It was also reported that a Fitna-e-Khawarij warlord was killed in the clashes. On October 11, an exchange of fire took place in the Helmand province of Afghanistan. Later, the Afghan Air Force attacked a Pakistani city. Taliban officials did not provide details of the operation. The Afghan TV channel TOLO News claimed that at least 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed during the clashes.

Islamabad announced the elimination of at least 200 Afghanis, the destruction of 19 military targets in Afghanistan from which attacks were carried out, and a strike on the headquarters of an Afghan tank battalion providing support to the ground forces attacking Pakistan.

Pakistan used drones to drop bombs on posts in Afghanistan’s Spin Boldak on Wednesday. The airstrikes reportedly hit three checkpoints near the Chaman border crossing. There were several casualties, as per Pakistani media.

Several videos of Pakistan’s drone attack in Spin Bodlak surfaced online. In one video, a huge envelope of smoke could be seen at the point where the bombs were believed to have been dropped.

The situation escalated during the day after Afghan forces captured the Spin Boldak Gate from Pakistani troops. Afghan media outlets reported that Pakistani soldiers suffered heavy losses, and fresh forces have arrived in the area.

On the night of October 9, Pakistan carried out air strikes on Kabul against the group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). In response, Afghan forces attacked multiple Pakistani military posts along the border.

Pakistan has accused Kabul of harbouring members of the TTP, which allegedly carried out attacks on Pakistani security forces, especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Over the past few years, Pakistan has witnessed a spate of attacks by militants, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after the banned TTP called off its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.

A day before Pakistan’s airstrikes on Kabul, at least 11 soldiers were reportedly killed in a clash with TTP terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Orakzai district. A total of 19 TTP members were also killed in the clash.

As per a statement by the military’s media wing, there were a Lieutenant Colonel and a Major among the soldiers killed.
