INS Shardul Reaches Madagascar With 600 Tons Of Rice

Indian Naval Ship INS SHARDUL reached Port Antsiranana, Madagascar, on 10 March, carrying 600 tonnes of rice as a gift from the Govt of India.

There was an official ceremony on board the Naval Ship on 12 March in which the rice from the Government of India was handed over to the Government of Madagascar.

The ceremony was attended by the Madagascar Foreign Minister Tehindrazanarivelo Djacoba and various high ranking officials from the Madagascar Defence forces and civilian organizations. The Indian side was represented by the ship’s Commanding Officer, Commander Abhishek Pathak and the Indian ambassador Shri Abhay Kumar.

The Foreign Minister of Madagascar appreciated the assistance provided by India and the Indian Navy, the MoD said, adding that he described India as a true friend and expressed a wish that the ties between the two countries will reach newer heights in the days to come.

A ‘Certificate of Endowment’ was signed by the dignitaries to mark the handing over of rice to the Government of Madagascar.
