Israeli president slams killing of his diplomats in USA

Isaac Herzog added that America and Israel would stand united in defense of their people and their shared values
Israeli President Isaac Herzog called the murder of two Israeli diplomats in Washington, D.C. an act of hatred and anti-Semitism.
“I am devastated by the scenes in Washington, D.C. This is a despicable act of hatred, of anti-Semitism, which has claimed the lives of two young employees of the Israeli embassy. Our hearts are with the loved ones of those murdered and our immediate prayers are with the injured. I send my full support to the Ambassador and all the embassy staff,” he wrote on his X page.
“America and Israel will stand united in defense of our people and our shared values. Terror and hate will not break us,” the Israeli president added.
Associated Press reported earlier that two Israeli embassy employees were killed in a shooting outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. According to the city’s police chief Pamela Smith, the deceased diplomats were a man and a woman. They were leaving an event at the museum when the 30-year-old suspect opened fire. Smith said that the detainee shouted the slogan “Free Palestine” during the arrest.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi said that she had already visited the scene, the news agency pointed out.
US President Donald Trump on his Truth Social page slammed the shooting in Washington as “anti-Semitism.” US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on his X page that the incident was “a brazen act of cowardly, anti-Semitic violence” and promised to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
According to the CBS TV channel, several other employees of the diplomatic mission were also injured. The TV channel pointed out that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening at around 9:15 p.m. local time (01:15 a.m. GMT on Thursday).
