Latest communication satellite launched by ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation has launched its latest communication satellite, GSAT-7R (CMS-03), from Sriharikota today. The 4,410 kg satellite, has been placed in a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) using the LVM3-M5 rocket. It is is the heaviest satellite launched so far by ISRO from own launch pad

Now the Indian Navy’s space-based communication and maritime domain awareness will be enhanced by several notches by this GSAT-7R. It marks a major step in strengthening defence communication capabilities.

The LVM3-M5 rocket also known as ‘Bahubali’, stands 43.5 metres tall and can carry payloads up to 4,000 kg to GTO. This was the rocket’s fifth operational flight, following its success with Chandrayaan-3 in 2023.

The three-stage launcher used solid boosters, liquid propulsion, and a cryogenic stage for heavy payload capacity. Once operational, the GSAT-7R satellite will provide secure multi-band communication coverage across India and the surrounding oceanic region.

Now the entire Paki Coast line and it’s Navy will be under continuous observation with no Escape Zone !!
