Lithuania Shows The Way By Making A radical move Towards Relationship With Taiwan

China has decided to recall its ambassador to Lithuania. According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, this action was taken because the Lithuanian government recently has announced its decision to allow the Taiwan authorities to open a representative office under the name of Taiwan.

China seething with anger has also demanded that the Lithuanian government recall its ambassador to China.

Lithuania, with a population of less than 3 million, is one of the three Baltic states. The country had been annexed into the Soviet Union by Joseph Stalin on the eve of the Soviet-German War (1941-45). It regained its independence in 1990.

Lithuania is the most anti-Russia country in Europe. It often waves the anti-Russia flag. Now, it is the country that has gone the furthest and taken on the China openly.

In his 2002 speech in Vilnius, former US president George W. Bush said, “Anyone who would choose Lithuania as an enemy has also made an enemy of the United States of America.” His words are displayed on a plaque at the Town Hall building of Vilnius, Lithuania’s capital.

Lithuania is a tiny country full of life. It is extremely beautiful and knows what to do to guard its independence. So as not be destroyed again, It has taken on China itself. For Lithuania, to do this kind of thing may look silly. This is not only to show its “fearlessness,” but is to get a guaranteed protection from entire Western Europe and the US.

It is rare to see small countries like Lithuania that specifically seek to worsen relations with China. However China can do nothing about it.

In fact now the time has come for India to do some loud thinking. Next time the Chinese make any wrong move on Kashmir, Arunachal or Ladakh then India too should take the next step to upgrade its relationship with Taiwan.
