New Indo Russian Mantra : Hiring of Indians by Russian Companies, Easier banking mechanism and increase in trade

“There is manpower requirement in Russia and India has a skilled manpower,” Ambassador of India to Russia Vinay Kumar said

Russian companies in the machinery and electronics industries are interested in employing Indian citizens, said Ambassador of India to Russia Vinay Kumar.

“At a broader level, there is a manpower requirement in Russia and India has skilled manpower. So at present, within the framework of Russian regulations, laws and quotas, the companies are hiring Indians,” the Ambassador said.

“Most of the people who have come are in the construction and textile sector” but the number of people interested in hiring Indians in the machinery and electronics segments is growing, the Indian diplomat added.

The workload of consular services is growing as more Indians come to work in Russia, the Ambassador said. “When people come and leave, they need consular services to extend their passport, childbirth, say for example, and loss of passport and those kinds, basically consular services,” he added.

Relevant authorities of India and Russia are also discussing simplification of payments for all categories of travelers, said the Indian Ambassador.”The Indo-Russian working group on Banking and Finance, comprising representatives from relevant ministries and the central boards of both nations, is actively engaged in discussions concerning technical aspects of messaging systems and payment mechanisms to make financial transactions easier for all categories of travelers,” the Ambassador said.

Further to cash payments, Russian tourists can take advantage of banking services offered by Russian banks VTB and Sberbank in India, he noted. “There are several banks which have branches in India and are currently making transactions easier for a variety of travelers, including students and tourists from Russia,” the Ambassador added.

India will continue to buy oil where it will benefit the country, emphasied the Ambassador of India to Russia.

“First of all, we have clearly stated that our objective is energy security of 1.4 billion people of India and India’s cooperation with Russia as well as several other countries has helped to bring about stability in the entire global oil market” the Ambassador said.

Trump and his Administration’s unilateral decision is is not only unjustified but outright illegal and foolish. No power on this earth can intimidate India. The Government of India will continue taking measures which will protect the national interest of the country.

And the trade will be done on commercial basis. So if the basis of commercial transaction trade imports are right, Indian companies will continue buying from wherever they get the best deal. Trump can keep blowing his trumpet.

The trade between India and Russia is a bilateral relationship based on mutual interests, the diplomat noted. “Our trade is based on market factors and done with the overall objective of ensuring the energy security of 1.4 billion people of India. There are other countries including the US itself and in Europe trading with Russia,” the Ambassador added.

On August 6, the United States increased tariffs on imports of Indian goods by 25% (to 50%) because the country is buying Russian oil and oil products. India too has reciprocated in equal measures.
