Operation Overload 6 June 1944 : The LONGEST DAY

76 Years ago on 06 June 1944 before sunrise , a huge allied armada headed for Normandy Coast while Airborne Troops of the Allied Forces commenced jumping and landing all over designated targets at night only .

The Germans had pulled back the Luftwaffe a few weeks ago. The Panzers were held in reserve under control of the German High Command the OKW. The Theatre Commander, the Desert Fox, Rommel the Field Marshal was in Germany for a personal reason.

Thus began the liberation of France and then Europe, supported by the Resistance every where. Rommel had predicted that the Allied will be landing at Normandy and said ….it would be LONGEST DAY for Germany .

See some of the pictures come alive ….of the Allied side . Just remember even the Germans were fighting for their Cause and Country .
