Karnataka CM Yediyurappa

In a relief to Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, the Supreme Court has stayed the probe in the alleged corruption case involving 24 acres of government land. Appearing for BS Yediyurappa, senior adv KV Vishwanathan said the decision was a “bonafide”.

BS Yediyurappa had moved the Supreme Court against the March 21 order of the Karnataka High Court where a special court’s order of refusing to proceed against BSY in a 10-year-old illegal land scam case was set aside.

The Karnataka High Court had directed the special court to take cognisance of the offences against Yediyurappa, and proceed further on the basis of the chargesheet filed by the Lokayukta Police in 2012.

Now, the Supreme Court has put a hold on the proceedings in the alleged corruption case. The Supreme Court has also issued notice to the state, Lokayukta and the complainant to respond to Yediyurappa’s plea.

Karnataka Chief Minister Yediyurappa is accused of his role in the alleged illegal allotment of 24 acres of government land to private individuals.
