MAY DAY MAY DAY MAY DAY ……FOR LOWLY MIGRANT LABOURERS

Musing By
Colonel Krityanand Das, Veteran

Ed : for students studying in China, Iran etc and pilgrims air evacuation was carried out. Warships are ready and even transport aircrafts to evacuate workers from Gulf Countries if required. So why poor labourers within the country were left out ? We do have a MILITARY RAIL SYSTEM for war. Why it was not pressed into service within 48 h of Lockdown to first move the stranded Armed Forces personnel …..those out on annual leave, casual leave, Courses and temporary duty ?

Next they should have been used for move of stranded labourers. Why this was not done ? The Chief of Integrated Defence Staff and the three Vice Chiefs must constitute a permanent Action Management Committee of the military to provide response and advice in such situation to the Chairman Disastour Management Authority and take charge as steering Committee.

How will we fight NBC warfare for which we have been preparing since 1980’s ??

Musings:

The workers of the world unite! A mere slogan in India! The workers in India are scattered uncared on he road sides. Living on some cooked grains thrown at them by government agencies and by photo shoot seeker political aspirants. Left in lurch by their employers and the governments, these Nowhere People are vulnerable to be exploited by criminals and various government agencies. But who cares?

The government of India did not consider their existence while taking decision on Lock Down.
Some low grade politicians like Kejariwala and Thakare even fooled them to gather at places with promises of being sent home in government managed transports. Just to embarrass their political opponents.

The Left parties who make their living by dropping crocodile tears in their names are no where to be seen. They only flock to organise sectors where wages are paid weekly or monthly, where cuts on wages are collected for the Trade Unions, like various religious sects run by Baba’s and Pirs. And the comrades live the lives of parasites, like those of witch doctors trading fears and it’s remedies.

They never go near the workers in unorganized sectors, like those on construction sites, in brick klins, on farm and in fields or near the daily wagers. Have you heard or seen Raja, Yechury,Kanhaiya and the Tukre-Tukre Gang any where near these unfortunate Nowhere People?

90% of the migrant workers come from SC, ST and the OBC sections of our society. They also make 85% of our population. They also make 85% of the vote bank, yet they are neither cared nor feared. That show the state of their weaknesses and meekness.

They are so deprived and depressed that they have no options left, but sale their dignity and votes for survival. Contractors exploit their labour and caste leaders exploit their votes. They are nowhere on the screens of our intellectuals, academicians, media men, god men and politicians.

Government has permitted their movement but has not rendered the services of railways. The same very government provided planes to bring back the richmen’s wards from far off four corners of the world at the drop of a hat.

Pressed in luxury buses to ferry few pilgrims and students. But is not ready to move the rails, rusting on the tracks. Buses on few thousands long routes besides being uncomfortables, needs frequent brakes due to human needs which will require additional administrative arrangements and waste of time.

These are available within the trains and on the stations. Presently unused. Let them be pressed in to the service. Why government is shy in pressing in the rail facilities?

Modi claim to be from the downtrodden section and also a man who spent his childhood selling tea in the train for living and adding income to his family. He should have been the first to do it and not being told by others. He could have offered few cups of tea to some unfortunate in the train, that would have insured few millions votes for sure.

They are worker, giving their cheap labour and long hours of work for very low wages for developmental works. They are adding assets to the nation. They are not theives or agitators, stealing properties or blocking roads.

Then why this hiccups in providing them care and comfort they rightly deserve. They are in this state because the rest of 15% have stolen their opportunities for ages and are still committing the same sins shamelessly.

Let me put some fear in the hearts and minds of the big and mighties with a warning from poet Rahim:-

दुर्बल को न साताइये,
जाकी मोटी हाय.
मरी खाल की सांस से,
लोह भसम हो जाय.
