New Corruption Emerges In West Bengal

A Trinamool Congress MP has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging corruption in the Viswabharati University in Santiniketan in West Bengal’s Birbhum district.

Bringing up Modi’s much-talked-about swachhata mission, TMC MP Anupam Hazra challenged the Prime Minister to clean up corruption in the varsity, which has hogged the headlines for the past few years over irregularities in appointments and siphoning of funds releasaed by the Government of India.

Hazra has levelled charges of corruption against Viswabharati University Vice-Chancellor Swapan Dutta and also accused him of inaction against the irregularities.

nterestingly, he has posted this at a time when former President Pranab Mukherjee is visiting his native village in Birbhum to mourn a relative’s demise.

This is not the first time Hazra has taken to social media. But on this occasion, he has raised questions over a central University of his Parliamentary constituency where he holds a post, but has no say.
