President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, Asaduddin Owaisi has hit out at Congress amid political tussle in Gujarat.

The Member of Parliament said, “If Patidars in Gujarat are being given reservation why Muslims are denied the same?” The development comes after Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel addressed a press conference on Wednesday morning in Ahmedabad. During the press conference Hardik that Congress has accepted all their demands about bringing quota for their community if it comes to power.

Mentioning that Congress party has confirmed to bring a bill if it comes to power, Hardik Patel said that Congress has accepted their issues.

“They have agreed to give Patidars reservations under section 31 and provisions of section 46,” Hardik Patel added. There is no law that quota cannot be given above 50%.

Subramanian Swamy said:

We want Patidar quota for safe future for our next generation, the Patidar leader mentioned.

Patidar leader Hardik Patel also announced that his Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) was formally accepting the formula advanced by the Congress party to give job quotas to the community under the OBC category.

“The Congress has accepted our demand for reservations with a formula that provides for benefits equivalent to OBCs constitutionally, without disturbing the present 49 per cent quota for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs,” Patel told the media.

Clashes between Congress and Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) took place on Sunday following the release of the candidate list for the upcoming 2017 Gujarat assembly elections.

Out of the 182 assembly seats in Gujarat, 89 seats will go to poll in the first phase on December 9 and the remaining seats will go to poll in the second phase on December 14. The result for the election would be declared on December 18.
