7 Members out of 15 force UNSC to drop Russian resolution on banning weapons in space

A few decade back a group of countries had tried their level best through their CTBT proposal to ensure that India gives up its miniscule number of nuclear weapons and completely abandon further work on tem.

They got badly exposed when India had proposed total elimination of all nuclear weapons by each and every country of the world that possessed them. Then India put a full stop to all their double games by carrying out a full-fledged fission and fusion detonations.

In somewhat a similar drama USA has ensured that the U.N. Security Council does not adopt a resolution proposed by Russia on banning all weapons in space. To obfuscate the issue the United States said that Moscow was trying to mislead the world from its true intention !!!

Seven members of the 15 members of the Security Council that is Russia, China, Algeria, Ecuador, Guyana, Mozambique and Sierra Lone backed the resolution. However this number was short of the nine required for adoption. The United States, UK, France, Japan, Malta, Slovenia and Republic of Korea, that is seven of them opposed it while Switzerland abstained.

The United States said Russia launched a satellite on May 16 that could be a weapon capable of attacking other satellites, and that Russia launched similar satellites in 2019 and 2022. China too has demonstrated ASAT capability but development of three ASAT capable Systems: direct fire, direct energy weapons and microsatellites.

The most glaring, disgusting and funniest at the same time is the fact that the India the fourth country which too has demonstrated these capabilities is not even a member of the Security Council. In March 2019 it had demonstrated this to the World. How can UNSC take any decision when there is no member to represent 17% of the World’s population ?

In April, the United States and Japan had submitted a resolution to the council to reaffirm a ban on nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction in space. Russia vetoed the resolution and then said it would propose its own resolution.

Ahead of the Vote, US deputy ambassador had accused Russia, saying “We are here today because Russia seeks to distract global attention from its development of a new satellite carrying a nuclear device, “

Vassily Nebenzia, Russia’s U.N. ambassador, responded by saying, “I didn’t even fully understand what he was talking about. But that’s not what is important.”

Indians accuse the entire system for deceiving the World.
